About

I spent eighteen years fixing what nobody had named yet. Then I had to do it to my own life.

The method I sell is the one I needed. That is not a marketing story - it is the reason the audit runs the way it does, and the reason it works without me in the room.

The work, told forward

I have been the person companies call when something is wrong and nobody can name it.

I started consulting in 2012, as K.Renee Consulting, which is the same practice you are looking at now under a different name. Since then I have worked inside businesses as a consultant and as a fractional executive - chief of staff, head of special projects, the roles you get handed when a company knows something is broken but not what.

Most recently I was Head of Special Projects at a shipping company, which I left in July 2026 on good terms. They still send me people.

Across all of it I kept finding the same thing, in businesses of every size. The work was good. Often it was excellent. And the outside view of that work was years behind the inside of it - saying something the owner had stopped meaning a long time ago, to a buyer who had already moved on.

Nobody was lying. Everybody was just too close.

What changed the method

Then my health made the old way of working impossible.

I am autistic and ADHD, and I live with chronic illness. Two of those I have known about for a while. One of them arrived and rearranged everything, and for a period I could not do the work at all.

What I had built until then was a practice that ran on me being available. Long days, live sessions, a standing calendar. It worked right up until the moment my body declined to participate, and then it did not work at all.

So I rebuilt the work around what was actually true. Not around a version of me who does not exist.

A system that only works when everyone is at full capacity is not a system. It is a streak, and streaks end.The rule everything else here follows from

Every strange thing about how I sell is a consequence of that. There is no discovery call, partly because a call biases the read - the moment you tell me what to look for, I stop being a stranger - and partly because I built this to work at the capacity I actually have. The deliverable is a written document rather than a live session, because a document works when you are ready and not when I am free. It ends by telling you what to do first, because a report you cannot act on alone is a dependency dressed up as a deliverable.

It turns out the capacity I have is roughly the capacity most of my clients have. Nobody has ever asked me for more meetings.

The part that isn't a service

Most workplaces are built for a person who does not exist.

They are designed for someone with a predictable body, an even attention span, no caregiving, and no bad quarters. Almost nobody is that person, and the people who are furthest from it are the ones quietly doing extraordinary work with no accommodation at all.

I care about three things at work in particular, and I am not neutral about any of them: neurodiversity in the workforce, mental health at work, and supporting employees living with chronic illness. Not as a diversity statement. As an operating question - because a business that only functions when everyone is at their best is carrying a risk it has not priced.

The other half of what I care about is help itself. I have worked and volunteered with nonprofits and alongside people coming through the worst of it, and I have watched well-meant support land badly often enough to have firm opinions about it. It is not a nonprofit problem or a corporate one, it is both: an aid shipment nobody can eat, a garden nobody was taught to cook from, a bonus that pushes an employee past a benefits threshold and leaves them worse off than before it was given. Supporting someone without taking something from them is a skill, and almost nobody is trained in it. That is the talk I would give for free.

And I am at my most useful when somebody has been told the answer costs money they do not have. Finding the thing a person already owns and building something around it - that was the whole idea behind K.Renee Consulting, and it is still the part of this work I would do for nothing.

I do not sell any of that as a service line. It is the why underneath the work, it is what I speak about, and it is most of what the podcast is for. If you want the argument in full, that is where it lives.

Where this goes

Some of this work is given away, and I would rather say so plainly than make a campaign of it.

I donate audits. I take a small number of pro bono clients each year. I mentor young founders, which is the part I would keep if I had to drop the rest.

I have worked and volunteered all over the world since I was a child, and I have had to step back from most of it for a while. That is a real limitation and not a temporary one, so I am careful now about what I promise. There is more coming, and I will name it here when it has actually happened rather than when it is still an intention.

If you want to know whether I can see your business clearly, the cheapest way to find out is to let me try.

The snapshot costs nothing and there are no strings on it. The audit is there if you want the whole read afterwards.
